Ameritas broker Jason Muskey: Barred

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), former Pennsylvania-based Ameritas broker Jason Muskey has been permanently barred from acting as a broker or otherwise associating with firms that sell securities to the public. Jason Muskey has spent fifteen years in the securities industry and was most recently registered with Ameritas Investment Corporation in Moosic, Pennsylvania (2006-2014). Previous registrations include Carillon Investments in Scranton, Pennsylvania (2006) and MetLife Securities in Scranton, Pennsylvania (2003-2005).
 
According to his BrokerCheck report, Jason Muskey is the subject of eleven customer complaints, one regulatory sanction, one employment separation after allegations, and one investigation.
 

  • In 2015 a customer alleged Jason Muskey, while employed at Ameritas, breached his fiduciary duty and committed securities fraud in connection to an investment in variable annuities. The customer seeks $75,000 in damages in the pending complaint.
  • In 2015 a customer alleged Jason Muskey, while employed at Ameritas, breached his fiduciary duty, misappropriated customer funds, breached contract, forged documents, and intentionally inflicted emotional distress. The customer seeks $70,000 in the pending complaint.
  • In 2015 a customer alleged Jason Muskey, while employed at Ameritas, “stole funds” which were intended for the purchase of an annuity. The customer seeks $1,000,000 in damages in the pending complaint.
  • In 2014 Jason Muskey became the subject of a United States Secret Services investigation into allegations of theft and forgery. The investigation remains pending.
  • In 2014 FINRA sanctioned Jason Muskey following allegations he failed to respond to a request for information. Mr. Muskey was permanently barred from associating with any FINRA member firm in any capacity.
  • In 2014 Jason Muskey was discharged from his position at Ameritas Investment Corporation following allegations of theft and forgery.
  • In 2014 a customer alleged Jason Muskey, while employed at Ameritas, unlawfully took the customer’s funds. The complaint settled in 2015 for more than $118,500.
  • In 2014 a customer alleged alleged Jason Muskey, while employed at Ameritas, stole funds. The complaint settled for more than $107,000.
  • In 2014 a customer alleged Jason Muskey, while employed at Ameritas, “systematically stole money and forged documents” and breached his fiduciary duty. The complaint settled in 2015 for $525,000.
  • In 2014 a customer alleged Jason Muskey, while employed at Ameritas, embezzled funds from their accounts. The complaint settled in 2015 for more than $227,800.
