Eric Zakarin Faces Pending Complaint

Eric Zakarin has spent 28 years in the securities industry and has been registered with Independent Financial Group in Basking Ridge, New Jersey since May 2015. Previous registrations include Wells Fargo Advisors in Westfield, New Jersey; Morgan Stanley in Short Hills, New Jersey; Morgan Stanley & Company in Short Hills, New Jersey; Morgan Stanley DW in Short Hills, New Jersey; UBS Financial Services in Westfield, New Jersey; Smith Barney in New York, New York; and Lehman Brothers in New York, New York. According to his BrokerCheck report, Eric Zakarin is the subject of four customer complaints and one pending customer complaint, and was discharged from his position at Wells Fargo Advisors.

  • In February 2016 a customer alleged Eric Zakarin, while employed at Wells Fargo Advisors, purchased positions without authorization. The customer is seeking $49,250 in the pending complaint.
  • In April 2015 Eric Zakarin was discharged from his position at Wells Fargo Advisors following allegations he “assisted a client, who was participating in an IRS voluntary disclosure program, in repatriating foreign currency.”
  • In 2001 a customer alleged Eric Zakarin, while employed at UBS Painewebber, made speculative investments in their account without their authorization or consent and mis-marked tickets as “unsolicited” when the trade was “solicited.” The complaint settled in 2002 for $20,000.
  • In 1993 a customer alleged Eric Zakarin, while employed at Shearson Lehman Brothers, misrepresented material facts and breached his fiduciary duty. The complaint resulted in an award to the customer of $5,031.
  • In 1991 a customer alleged Eric Zakarin, while employed at Shearson Lehman Brothers, acted negligently. The complaint resulted in an award to the customer of $2,000.
  • In 1991 a customer alleged Eric Zakarin, while employed at Shearson Lehman Brothers, executed unauthorized trades, churned the account, and misrepresented material facts related to an investment. The complaint resulted in an award to the customer of $17,977, to which Mr. Zakarin individually contributed $10,000.
