Lloyd Dotson Terminated for Outside Business Activity

Lloyd DotsonPublicly available records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on July 27, 2016 indicate that former Connecticut-based Commonwealth Financial Network broker Lloyd Dotson is currently not licensed to act as a broker or an investment adviser. Lloyd Dotson has spent 20 years in the securities industry and was most recently registered with Commonwealth Financial Network in New Canaan, Connecticut (2006-2016); Merrill Lynch in Stamford, Connecticut (2001-2006); and AG Edwards & Sons in St. Louis, Missouri (1995-2001). He is currently not registered with any state or firm.

In June 2016, Lloyd Dotson was terminated from his position at Commonwealth Financial Network following allegations he “engaged in multiple Outside Business Activities where he used an alias to promote participation in multi-level marketing programs” for which he failed to provide prior written notice or receive prior written approval.

In 2001, a customer alleged Lloyd Dotson, while employed at AG Edwards, breached contract, breached his fiduciary duty, misrepresented and omitted material facts related to an investment, acted negligently, and made unsuitable investment recommendations. The complaint resulted in an award to the customer of more than $1,800.
