James Belenis Discharged from Raymond James Financial Services

james BelenisPublic records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on September 15, 2016 indicate that California-based KMS Financial Services broker/adviser James Belenis has been the subject of customer complaints and a FINRA sanction. James Belenis has spent 22 years in the securities industry and has been registered with KMS Financial Services in Davis, California since 2013. Previous registrations include Raymond James Financial Services in Davis, California and Edward Jones in Davis, California. He is a registered broker and investment adviser with ten US states and territories: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Texas, and Virginia.

According to his BrokerCheck report, James Belenis has received two customer complaints and one regulatory sanction, and was discharged from Raymond James Financial Services.

In September 2015 FINRA sanctioned James Belenis following allegations he participated in a private securities transaction when he invested in a “limited liability company that held a gold mining operation without prior written notice to his member firm” and “assisted in raising capital” for the company. He was issued a 20-day suspension and a fine of $5,000.

In 2013 James Belenis was terminated from Raymond James & Associates following allegations he participated in an outside business activity without the firm’s prior approval.

In 2005 a customer alleged James Belenis, while employed at Edward Jones, breached his fiduciary duty, failed to supervise, and violated state and federal securities laws in connection to the purchase of Star Gas Partners and Delta Airlines bonds. The complaint settled in 2007 for $47,500.

In 2002 a customer alleged James Belenis, while employed at Edward Jones, mismanaged the account, misrepresented material facts, made unsuitable recommendations, intentionally inflicted emotional distress, failed to supervise, and committed fraud. The complaint resulted in an award to the customer of $10,000.
