Brian Egan: Discharged From Independent Financial Group

Brian EganPublic records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on October 14, 2016 indicate that former California-based Independent Financial Group broker Brian Egan has been permanently barred from acting as a broker or otherwise associating with firms that sell securities to the public. the securities and investment fraud law firm Fitapelli Kurta is interested in speaking to investors who have complaints regarding Mr. Egan (CRD# 4527950).

Brian Egan has spent twelve years in the securities industry and was most recently registered with Independent Financial Group in Laguna Niguel, California (2010-2015). Previous registrations include AFA Financial Group in Laguna Niguel, California (2005-2010) and HD Vest Investment Services in Irving, Texas (2002-2004). He is currently not registered with any state or firm.

According to his BrokerCheck report, Brian Egan has been sanctioned by FINRA and was discharged from Independent Financial Group.

In August 2016 FINRA sanctioned Brian Egan following allegations he “failed to disclose to his member firm outside brokerage accounts he owned or held trading authority over at another FINRA member firm, which included both Egan’s family members and customers of his tax and accounting service.” According to FINRA’s complaint, Mr. Egan “customers of his tax and accounting service. The findings stated that Egan exercised his trading authority in the accounts at the other firm to execute trades and to transfer funds and securities from certain customer accounts to his own accounts at the other firm.” He also allegedly made misrepresentations in compliance forms failed to respond to requests for documents and information. He was permanently barred from acting as a broker or otherwise associating with firms that sell securities to the public.

In July 2015 Brian Egan was terminated from his position at Independent Financial Group following allegations he failed “to disclose personal trading accounts and maintaining trading authority on brokerage accounts held away in violation of firm policy.”
