Nathan Koenig: Seven Customer Complaints and a Regulatory Sanction

Nathan KoenigPublicly available records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on December 7, 2016 indicate that former Ohio-based Huntington Financial broker Nathan Koenig is currently not affiliated with any broker-dealer firm and has been sanctioned by FINRA. Nathan Koenig has spent eight years in the securities industry and was most recently registered with the Huntington Investment Company in Perrysburg, Ohio (2010-2015). Previous registrations include PNC Investments in Maumee, Ohio; Natcity Investments in Maumee, Ohio; and Edward Jones in Toledo, Ohio. He is currently not registered with any state or firm.

According to his BrokerCheck report, Nathan Koenig has received seven customer complaints, one pending customer complaint, and one regulatory sanction.

In November 2015 FINRA sanctioned Nathan Koenig in connection to the following allegations: “while associated with his member firm, Koenig became aware that a customer was unhappy with the performance of a unit investment trust he had purchased on Koenig’s recommendation. The findings stated that to appease the customer and discourage him from complaining to the firm, Koenig paid the customer $1,567.33 by personal check to reimburse him for the losses on the investment. The findings also stated that Koenig settled the customer’s complaint without the firm’s knowledge or consent. Notwithstanding Koenig’s payment, the customer complained to the firm and requested lost interest on his investment. The firm thereafter learned of Koenig’s settlement with the customer and terminated his employment.” Mr. Koenig was issued a 15-day suspension and a fine of $5,000.

In June 2015 Nathan Koenig was terminated from his position at the Huntington Investment Company following allegations he personally settled a customer complaint without notifying the firm.

In 2015 a customer alleged Nathan Koenig, while employed at the Huntington Investment Company, did not advise her of the surrender period associated with a variable annuity product. The complaint settled for more than $30,500.
