Jonothan Lieberman: Permanently Barred From the Securities Industry

Jonothan LiebermanPublicly available records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on December 16, 2016 indicate that former New York-based Salomon Whitney Financial broker Jonothan Lieberman has been permanently barred from acting as a broker or otherwise associating with firms that sell securities to the public. Jonothan Lieberman has spent 21 years in the securities industry and was most recently registered with Salomon Whitney Financial in Farmingdale, New York (2015). Previous registrations include Rockwell Global Capital in Melville, New York; Charles Vista LLC in Melville, New York; Obsidian Financial Group in Woodbury, New York; Westrock Advisors in Woodbury, New York; JP Turner & Company in Garden City, New York; National Securities in Seattle, Washington; Northeast Securities in Mitchelfield, New York; Broadband Capital Management in New York, New York; Dalton Kent Securities in New York, New York; HGI in Jericho, New York; Stratton Oakmont in Lake Success, New York; and Maidstone Financial in New York, New York. He is currently not registered with any state or firm.

According to his BrokerCheck report, Jonothan Lieberman has received nine customer complaints, one regulatory sanction, and one pending customer complaint.

In May 2016 FINRA sanctioned Jonothan Lieberman following allegations he “refused to provide documents and information, to appear for an on-the-record testimony, and to cooperate with FINRA’s investigation.” According to FINRA, “The findings stated that FINRA began an examination into Lieberman’s activities while employed by a member firm and requested the on-the-record testimony and documents and information. The examination concerned various potential sales practice violations.” He was permanently barred from acting as a broker or otherwise associating with firms that sell securities to the public.

In 2015 a customer alleged Jonothan Lieberman, while employed at Rockwell Global Capital, executed an unauthorized trade. The complaint settled for more than $32,800.

In 2015 Jonathan Lieberman was terminated from his position at Rockwell Global Capital following allegations that after a customer’s complaint involving an unauthorized trade, he corresponded with the customer using his personal email, in contravention of firm policy, and attempted to privately negotiate a settlement.

In 2014 a customer alleged Jonothan Lieberman, while employed at Rockwell Global Capital, made unsuitable recommendations and acted negligently. The complaint settled in 2015 for $150,000.

In 2009 a customer alleged he, while employed at Westrock Advisors, made unauthorized trades, misrepresented and omitted material facts, recommended unsuitable investments, breached his fiduciary duty, churned the account, committed fraud, and acted negligently. The complaint settled in 2010 for $12,500.

In 2006 a customer alleged he, while employed at JP Turner & Company, churned the account, committed fraud, made unsuitable recommendations and misrepresented material facts. The complaint settled for $40,000.
