Public records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on January 4, 2017 indicate that Mississippi-based First Heartland Capital broker/adviser Nick Morgan has been suspended from acting as a broker. Fitapelli Kurta is interested in hearing from investors who have complaints regarding Mr. Morgan (CRD# 4096036).
Nick Morgan has spent sixteen years in the securities industry and has been registered with First Heartland Capital in Jackson, Mississippi since 2015. Previous registrations include Kovack Securities in Ridgeland, Mississippi and Signator Investors in Ridgeland, Mississippi. He is a registered broker and investment adviser with Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
According to his BrokerCheck report, Nick Morgan has received two regulatory sanctions and one customer complaint.
In December 2016 FINRA sanctioned Nick Morgan following allegations he “obtained blank or partially blank signed forms while associated with FINRA member firms, in violation of those firms’ policies and procedures.” According to FINRA: “[Mr.] Morgan caused one blank signed form to be completed and submitted to his firm for processing that also caused his firm to have inaccurate books and records. Specifically, as an accommodation to a customer, Morgan caused the customer’s name and account number to be added on a withdrawal form, and selected ‘full distribution’ on that form after the customer had signed it. Morgan then caused the form to be submitted for processing.” He was issued a 5-month suspension and a fine of $10,000.
In 2015 the Mississippi Securities Division sanctioned Nick Morgan following allegations he obtained incomplete and/or blank signed client forms. He was issued a fine of $1,500 and a heightened supervision plan.
In 2009 a customer alleged Nick Morgan, while employed at Signator Investors, misrepresented and sold an unsuitable investment. The complaint settled for $200,000.
