Barry Connell: Terminated From Morgan Stanley Following Customer Allegations

Public records published by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on January 5, 2016 indicate that former New Jersey-based Morgan Stanley broker/adviser Barry Connell has been the subject of customer disputes and is currently not affiliated with any broker-dealer firm. Barry Connell has spent eighteen years in the securities industry and was most recently registered with Morgan Stanley in Ridgewood, New Jersey (2009-2016). Previous registrations include Morgan Stanley & Company in Pearl River, New York (2008-2009) and UBS Financial Services in Pearl River, New York (1998-2008). He is currently not registered with any state or firm.

According to his BrokerCheck report, Barry Connell has received two customer complaints and one pending customer complaint, and was recently terminated from Morgan Stanley.

In December 2016 a customer alleged Barry Connell, while employed at Morgan Stanley, recommended and sold unsuitable investments. The customer is seeking $161,549 in damages in the pending complaint.

In November 2016 Barry Connell was terminated from his position at Morgan Stanley following “allegations regarding unauthorized withdrawals and transfers of funds from client’s household accounts to third-party payees, which appear to be for the benefit of the former registered representative.”

In 2012 a customer alleged Barry Connell, while employed at Morgan Stanley, made unauthorized trades. The complaint settled in 2013 for $55,000.

In 2008 a customer alleged Barry Connell, while employed at Morgan Stanley, failed to follow instructions. The complaint settled for $20,000.
