Customer Alleged Jerry Raines Was Involved in a Fraudulent Investment Scheme

Jerry RainesPublic records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and accessed on March 19, 2018 indicate that former Texas-based HD Vest Investment Services broker Jerry Raines has received pending customer disputes. Jerry Raines has spent 11 years in the securities industry and was most recently registered with HD Vest Investment Services in Kilgore, Texas (2014-2017). Previous registrations include Signal Securities in Kilgore, Texas (2013-2014) and Woodmen Financial Services in Kilgore, Texas (2004-2010, 2011-2012). He has passed two securities industry examinations: Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination), which he obtained on September 8, 2004, and Series 6 (Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination), which he obtained on February 13, 2004. He is currently not registered with any state or firm.

According to his BrokerCheck report, he has received three pending customer complaints.

In February 2018 a customer alleged Jerry Raines, while employed at HD Vest Investment Services, “agreed to join and participate in a civil conspiracy” and “committed overt acts” furthering a conspiracy that “propped up” a fraudulent investment scheme. The customer is seeking unspecified damages in the pending complaint.

In February 2018 a customer alleged Jerry Raines, while employed at Signal Securities, misrepresented and recommended an unsuitable investment in Woodbridge Mortgage Investment Fund 2, which later filed for bankruptcy. The customer is seeking at least $100,000 in damages in the pending complaint.

In February 2018 a customer alleged he, while employed at Signal Securities, unsuitably recommended and misrepresented material facts related to an investment in Woodbridge Mortgage Investment Fund 2 in April 2013 and April/May 2014. The customer is seeking $450,000 in damages in the pending complaint.
