Investigation: Morgan Stanley Adviser Sumitro Pal

Publicly available records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on June 14, 2017 indicate that Maryland-based Morgan Stanley broker/adviser Sumitro Pal has received resolved or pending customer disputes. In May 2017 a customer named Sumitro Pal in a complaint pertaining to his employment at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, alleging that the branch manager failed in his supervisory duties. The customer is seeking $115,156 in damages in the pending complaint.

In 2009 a customer alleged Sumitro Pal, while employed at Morgan Stanley & Company, sold an annuity which the customer believed had a guaranteed minimum income benefit rider, which it in fact did not. The complaint settled for $16,100.
