Ameriprise Financial Services: 76 Regulatory Events, 105 Customer Complaints

In June 2018 the South Carolina Securities Commissioner sanctioned the firm following allegations it failed to adequately supervise three agents “who engaged in dishonest and unethical practices” by recommending unsuitable investments and investment strategies and by using “fictitious account information” to effect otherwise prohibited trades. The firm was censured and issued a fine of $495,000.

In 2014 a customer alleged Ameriprise Financial Services misrepresented and omitted material facts, failed in its supervisory duties, and breached its fiduciary duty. The complaint resulted in an award to the customer of $2,036,890.
