In January 2017 FINRA sanctioned her following allegations she “acted beyond the scope of her employment with a FINRA member firm in her activities with an education company without providing accurate prior written notice and without obtaining approval from the firm to engage in such outside activities.” FINRA’s findings stated further: “just prior to joining the firm, Russell executed a consulting agreement with the education company and she failed to disclose the existence of that consulting agreement to the firm or provide the firm with full and accurate details concerning the nature and scope of this outside business. Russell was a paid consultant for the education company.” She was issued a 2-month suspension and a fine of $5,000.
