Publicly available records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on May 4, 2016 indicate that Florida-based International Assets Advisory broker/adviser Brent Burgesser has been sanctioned by FINRA. The securities and investment fraud law firm Fitapelli Kurta is interested in speaking to investors who have complaints regarding Mr. Burgesser (CRD# 3278147).
Brent Burgesser has spent 15 years in the securities industry and has been registered with International Assets Advisory in Orlando, Florida since November 2015. Previous registrations include LPL Financial in Chandler, Arizona; Wells Fargo Advisors in Plano, Texas; Merrill Lynch in Plano, Texas; Morgan Stanley DW in Purchase, New York; Merrill Lynch in New York, New York; and Painewebber in Weehawken, New Jersey. He is a registered broker and investment adviser in six US states: Arizona, California, Illinois, New York, South Carolina, and Texas.
According to his BrokerCheck report, Brent Burgesser is the subject of one regulatory sanction and was discharged from his position at Wells Fargo Advisors.
In April 2016, FINRA sanctioned Brent Burgesser following allegations that he “effected unsuitable short-term switches of Class A mutual fund transactions in customer accounts, usually selling the investment after only approximately one and a half to three months, only to buy and sell another mutual fund.” FINRA additionally alleged that Mr. Burgesser “sold shares in a particular mutual fund only to later repurchase shares in the same fund for the same customers,” though he did not have “reasonable grounds for believing that such transactions were suitable for these customers in view of the nature, frequency, and size of the recommended transactions and in light of each customer’s financial situation, investment objectives, risk tolerance and circumstances.” He was issued a 60-day suspension and a fine of $5,000.
In 2012, Brent Burgesser was terminated from his position at Wells Fargo Advisors following unspecified allegations related to his recommendations that customers purchase and sell mutual fund A shares.
