Floyd Powell: Investors Seek Over $350,000 in Pending Complaints

Floyd PowellPublicly available records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and accessed on September 12, 2018 indicate that former Alabama-based MML Investors Services broker Floyd Powell has received pending customer disputes. Floyd Powell has spent 25 years in the securities industry and was most recently registered with MML Investors Services in Albertville, Alabama (2017-2018). Previous registrations include MSI Financial Services in Albertville, Alabama (1992-2017) and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Birmingham, Alabama (1992-2007). He has passed two securities industry examinations: Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination), which he obtained on March 30, 1992, and Series 6 (Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination), which he obtained on March 13, 1992. He is currently not registered as a broker with any state or firm.

According to his BrokerCheck report, he has received two customer complaints.

In August 2018 a customer alleged Floyd Powell, while employed at MSI Financial Services, violated securities law in connection to the recommendation of an unregistered, “fraudulent investment program.” The customer is seeking $250,001 in damages in the pending complaint.

In May 2018 a customer alleged Floyd Powell, while employed at MSI Financial Services, recommended investments in “unregistered and fraudulent investment programs” in January 2017 and July 2017. The customer is seeking more than $135,700 in damages in the pending complaint.
