Publicly available records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and accessed on July 28, 2017 indicate that Texas-based Independent Financial Group broker/adviser Jerry Tuma has been named in a pending civil complaint. In March 2016 Jerry Tuma was named with other defendants in a lawsuit by “H. Thomas Moran II, Trustee For Life Partners Holdings” alleging the defendants “failed to provide accurate information regarding life settlements to investors and failed to disclose a disproportionate sum of the investment would be used to pay Life Partners and themselves,” and additionally that “Certain fees and funds were alleged premised on maintenance and perpetuation of a fraudulent scheme thus damaging the bankruptcy of Life Partners Holdings.” The complaint remains pending.

In 2009 a customer alleged Jerry Tuma, while employed at AIG Financial Advisors, recommended unsuitable mutual fund investments. The complaint settle for $117,500.
