In December a customer alleged Patti Barnes, while employed at BBVA Compass Investment Solutions, recommended an unsuitable variable annuity product in April 2013. The customer is seeking $825,000 in damages in the pending complaint.

In 2009 a customer alleged Patti Barnes, while employed at Compass Brokerage, recommended an investment in Lehman Brothers medium term notes though Lehman Brothers was already in financial trouble. The customer sought $20,000 in damages in the complaint, which was closed with no action taken.
