Scott Goldman Was Sanctioned by FINRA

Scott GoldmanPublicly available records published by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on January 5, 2017 indicate that former Illinois-based Cambridge Investment Research broker Scott Goldman has been sanctioned by FINRA and is currently not registered with any broker-dealer firm. He is currently not registered with any state or firm.

According to his BrokerCheck report, Scott Goldman has received one FINRA sanction and three customer complaints.

In December 2016 FINRA sanctioned Scott Goldman following allegations he “recommended an investment strategy to an elderly customer that was unsuitable because it unduly concentrated her in risky, leveraged precious metal products.” FINRA’s findings also stated that “the customer received fund prospectus but was not adequately informed of the investment components in that she did not understand the nature of and market risk associated with it.” Mr. Goldman was issued a 20-day suspension and a fine of $10,000.

In 2014 a customer alleged Scott Goldman, while employed at LPL Financial, misrepresented material facts, made unsuitable recommendations, and failed to supervise in connection to a Symetrya variable universal life insurance policy. The complaint settled for $75,000.

In 2013 a customer alleged Scott Goldman, while employed at LPL Financial and H. Beck, recommended unsuitable exchange-traded fund and annuity products. The complaint settled for $114,000.

In 2012 a customer alleged Scott Goldman, while employed at LPL Financial, Waterstone Financial Group and H. Beck, misrepresented and omitted material facts. The complaint settled for $20,000.
