Victor Lee: Permanently Barred From Acting as a Broker

Victor Lee

Publicly available records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on March 17, 2017 indicate that former New York-based UBS Financial Services broker/adviser Victor Lee has been permanently barred from acting as a broker or otherwise associating with firms that sell securities to the public. Fitapelli Kurta is interested in hearing from investors who have complaints regarding Mr. Lee (CRD# 5513482).

Victor Lee has spent three years in the securities industry and was most recently registered with UBS Financial Services in New York, New York (2012-2015). He was previously registered with Ameriprise Financial Services in Kew Gardens, New York. He is currently not registered with any state or firm.

According to his BrokerCheck report, Victor Lee has been sanctioned by FINRA.

In January 2017 FINRA sanctioned Victor Lee following allegations he participated in an undisclosed outside business activity by assisting an area tax preparer “from whom he sought referral business.” According to FINRA’s findings: “Lee created partnership agreements for the tax preparer’s clients and held himself out to be a partner of the tax preparer. Lee’s activity was outside the scope of his business with his member firm and he did not provide notice of this activity, at any time, to the firm. Additionally, Lee used the firm’s resources, including his email address, with the firm, to communicate with clients of the tax preparer, thus creating the false impression that his work on behalf of the tax preparer was endorsed by the firm, when it was not.” He also allegedly “created partnership agreements for the tax preparer’s clients when he had reason to believe they were under audit by the New York State Department of Tax and Finance” though he “had no prior experience in creating partnership agreements and no legal or tax expertise regarding partnerships.” He was permanently barred from acting as a broker or otherwise associating with firms that sell securities to the public.

In 2015 Victor Lee was terminated from his position at UBS Financial Services “after concerns were raised that he failed to disclose an outside activity and acted beyond the scope of his role at the Firm.”
